John has been networking successfully many years and shares his insight. Networking in Chambers of Commerce and networking groups needs to be strategic and intentional. It is about finding people with a giver's mindset and developing relationships with these folks. Some mistakenly think they need to collect a ton of business cards and give out just as many. That does not result in anything of value. far better is it to have two good conversations with Givers and start building trust with each other.

As John points out, once one starts to get referrals, business can be much better. There is already a measure of trust established based on the referral. However, there is still work to do after the introduction. Be a Giver and think of having 1-2 conversations at each event. Before long, you will build up a nice network of people helping each other.
